The Grand Resort Bad Ragaz has once again confirmed its leading position in the culinary world. In the current Michelin Guide 2023, the resort was awarded six Michelin stars and one green star. This prestigious honor was announced on 2 October in Lausanne, placing the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz at the forefront of Swiss gastronomy.
The Grand Resort’s three award-winning restaurants have once again proven their outstanding quality. Especially Sven Wassmer’s restaurant Memories, which was awarded three Michelin stars for the second year in a row. This high recognition reflects the excellent work of Wassmer and his team, placing the restaurant in an elite circle of only 140 3-star restaurants worldwide. Sven Wassmer expressed his enthusiasm about this award: “Confirming the three stars is the highlight of a successful, exciting year and fills my team and me with pride and joy. We can count ourselves among a small circle of 140 3-star restaurants that are passionate about putting their vision into practice. For us, it is modern alpine cuisine and our new type of hospitality, in which guests, cuisine, service and location all contribute to an unforgettable experience.”
Sustainability in Focus
In addition to the Michelin stars, Memories also received the green star again, an award for sustainable gastronomy in the areas of working methods, philosophy and seasonality. This recognition highlights the restaurant’s commitment to environmental friendliness and sustainability. Sven Wassmer commented on this as follows: “People and our products must be the focus. The four-day week, which has been implemented since 2022, allows us to specifically focus our energy and resources. This allows us to perform at our best every evening.”
New Talents in the Kitchen
The restaurant IGNIV by Andreas Caminada, under the direction of chef Joël Ellenberger, was also awarded two Michelin stars in 2023. This is a remarkable achievement for Ellenberger, who took over as kitchen manager from Silvio Germann just last year. He said, “Last year, I felt enormous pressure. This year was about expanding my own style and continuing the concept creatively. As a team, we are incredibly proud that this was so well received by the testers and also our guests.”
Health and Enjoyment go Hand in Hand
The restaurant Verve by Sven, under the direction of chef Sebastian Titz, also received another Michelin star. Titz emphasized the importance of health-oriented cuisine: “The fact that our health-oriented cuisine has been awarded a star for the third time in a row is simply brilliant. We try to convey the joy of healthy enjoyment – a goal that is achievable thanks to outstanding product quality, careful craftsmanship and mindfulness of seasonality.”
A Resort in Transition
The Grand Resort Bad Ragaz has not only established itself as a wellness oasis but has also made cuisine a central part of its corporate strategy. The investment in the continuous development of the restaurant offering shows that conscious enjoyment is the focus. Milos Colovic, General Manager of Grand Hotels at the resort, summed it up: “Conscious enjoyment is our focus, and fine dining also has a lot to do with well-being. Because guests take their time and enjoy the moment.”
With its six Michelin stars, the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz has once again proven that it is not only a place for relaxation and recreation but also a culinary paradise for discerning gourmets from all over the world. This success is the result of hard work, passion and commitment from a talented team that always strives to delight guests with exceptional taste experiences.
