After an extensive renovation, Switzerland’s largest Manora restaurant opens its doors with an innovative new concept. Inspired by the atmosphere of markets, guests can discover seven culinary worlds offering a variety of fresh, homemade delicacies.
As in all Manor department stores, the Manora Restaurant is situated on the top floor. Taking the journey up, passing by different departments, is not only a great way to discover the biggest Manor in Switzerland, but it also keeps you in suspense for what awaits on the top floor. Entering the newly renovated Manora Geneva is like stepping into a global food market. Vibrant colors and delicious smells take over the room. In every corner, there are a variety of different culinary delights to discover. Furthermore, Manora attracts 4,000 to 6,000 customers every day, among whom are people of diverse backgrounds and ages. Whether friends, family or couples, everyone enjoys this new gathering place in the heart of Geneva. The renovation enables the accommodation of 800 guests with a capacity of 500 people indoors and 300 people outdoors on the largest rooftop terrace in Geneva, offering a beautiful view of Jet d’eau and Mont Blanc.
Manora’s New Concept
What was already successfully implemented in Lugano in the beginning of the year, has now been introduced in Geneva. The Manora restaurants provide fresh, high-quality and diverse foods. Sebastien Iandelli, Category Director Food, lists three characteristics of the new concept: popular, transparent and freshly produced every day. Promoting transparency and a unique experience, all meals are prepared in front of the customers’ eyes. This includes the freshly baked genuine Neapolitan pizzas, which are made in two pizza ovens with high-quality ingredients, and the “fior di latte” mozzarella, which is made from 100% local milk.
Sebastian Iandelli captures the new concept as follows: «The Manora team has shown creativity and energy in developing the new generation of Manora restaurants. Our primary goal is to ensure that our customers are satisfied. The new concept combines current topics such as sustainability with traditional and local specialties. We wanted to create a gathering place where everyone is welcome. Manora Geneva is a place, where our social role is fundamental: It should be popular and accessible to everyone.»
Seven Culinary Worlds
Manora Geneva’s new concept incudes seven culinary worlds: “Il Giardino”, “Il Pizzaiolo”, “La Pasta Bio”, “Il Café Bio”, “La Rôtisserie”, “L’Atelier Fior di Latte” and “Cuisine from Around the World”.
Il Giardino is at the heart of the restaurant, featuring salads, seasonal vegetable dishes and other vegan products that are 100% “homemade” and mainly sourced locally. It also includes fresh juices and smoothies, all prepared on site.Il Pizzaiolo, boasting two imposing wood-fired ovens, offers a taste of the Mediterranean with its delicious pizzas.
The Pasta Bio stand provides pasta made with their own 100% organic Manora flour and seasonal products.
Il Café Bio exclusively serves 100% organic coffee roasted exclusively for Manora in Bern. The coffee specialties are prepared using the latest Italian coffee machine technology.
Like market-style offerings, La Rôtisserie provides delicious poultry and potatoes. Another specialty offered is the famous “Churasco” chicken, prepared on the lava stone grill.
At l’Atelier Fior di Latte, cheese artisans from Apulia craft mozzarella from locally sourced milk right in front of customers. Customers can also sample and savor burrata, nodini, ricotta and other specialties at this stand.
The Cuisine from Around the World comprises three entities. Firstly, the renowned American burger chain Black Tap offers a range of different burgers. Secondly, the “Lebanon” stand serves exceptional specialties like the traditional shawarma from the well-known Genevan restaurant Fouad. Lastly, the “Thai” stand presents a daily selection of two or three dishes, including favorites like Pad Thai and Panang Curry.
In addition to savoring the culinary delights from the restaurant, Manora also provides cooking classes and tastings in the inviting «Officina» for guests to learn more about the products and ingredients. This space can also be reserved for customers› businesses or private parties.
