Swing Kitchen has opened its new restaurant in Zurich’s Central, offering a unique space where people with diverse eating habits –whether vegan, flexitarian, or meat-eater – can come together to enjoy 100% plant-based fast food.
Swing Kitchen was founded by Charly Schillinger. After a personal tragedy, he took over his family’s inn in Grossmugl, including the responsibility of slaughtering the pigs they raised. However, looking into the eyes of one pig, Charly couldn’t bring himself to kill it, and he and his family became vegetarians overnight. In the 1990s, Charly met Irene during an anti-fur demonstration, and their instant connection led to Irene creating 100% vegan versions of traditional Austrian dishes Charly had long missed. Their successful vegan «Gasthaus Schillinger» earned them the title of «Austrians of the Year» in 2022. This success gave rise to «Schillinger’s Swing Kitchen» in Vienna, a vegan fast food spot with a 60s New York ambiance. Since then, Swing Kitchen has been delighting with juicy burgers, crispy nuggets, and tempting desserts across Austria, Germany, and now Switzerland, including Bern and Zurich’s Central.
Swing Kitchen is dedicated to being a climate-friendly alternative to meat, offering a sustainable fast food concept that conserves resources and frees animals from the food chain. They use 100% plant-based ingredients and packaging from renewable resources, with a focus on non-GMO and regional products. Their commitment to organic and Fairtrade options further supports their mission. Swing Kitchen demonstrates that sustainability and taste can harmoniously coexist.
